Climate Teaching & Learning Resources
UC CAAN supports two complementary public resources for academics, artists, educators, researchers, students, and communities working at the intersections of art, climate, ecology, and public life.
The California Arts & Climate Archive (CACA) documents arts-and-climate work across California, while the Climate Teaching Resource Library gathers mixed-media materials for teaching climate across disciplines.
California Arts & Climate Archive (CACA)
The California Arts & Climate Archive (CACA) is a growing public archive documenting artworks, exhibitions, research projects, community initiatives, curricula, publications, performances, and other creative practices engaging climate, ecology, and environmental justice in California.
CACA is designed to make this work more visible, discoverable, and accessible over time while preserving the context in which it was created. The archive brings together contributions from across the University of California and from artists, cultural organizations, researchers, and community partners throughout the state.
Climate Teaching Resource Library
The Climate Teaching Resource Library (CTRL) is a curated, living collection of materials for teaching and learning about climate across disciplines.
The library includes books and book chapters, scholarly articles, essays and journalism, podcasts and audio, films and video, websites and digital resources, teaching activities and lesson plans, datasets, reports, and other materials that support climate teaching in the arts and design, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering and technology, business and economics, education, health, law and policy, and interdisciplinary fields.
How the Two Collections Work Together
The two collections have different purposes but are designed to connect.
CACA is a living archive documents artworks, creative projects, exhibitions, and other cultural work related to climate, ecology, and environmental justice, with a particular focus on California. The arcvhive include the institutions, centers, and creative initiatives that support this work across all campuses in the University of California.
The Climate Teaching Resource Library is a living pedagogical collection brings together materials that educators and students can use for teaching and learning about climate across disciplines. Resources may be contemporary, foundational, or historical; inclusion is based on their continuing pedagogical value rather than their publication date.
Artworks and creative projects are collected through CACA, not through the Climate Teaching Resource Library collecting form.
Scholarly articles, books, podcasts, films, reports, websites, lesson plans, and other teaching materials that fall outside CACA’s archival scope are collected directly in the Climate Teaching Resource Library.
